Currently we support only the latest ArcEmu**, Aspire, Ascent, and MaNGOS cores. We do not support other offshoots, custom repacks, etc., although they might still work depending on the database structure.

**Exception: Because of the popularity of the ArcEmu core, and the vast majority of our users utilizing it, we currently support two build ranges for it: one for users with build lower than v2810, and one for those with a build equal to or greater than v2810.

We also DO NOT support the repack known as "Johved's Repack". It uses a custom database structure (and values) and causes major problems with WoW-V. DO NOT USE IT if you wish to use our queries.

This is because you are using an EntryID that is already in use by another item/quest/etc. EntryIDs MUST be unique!

2147483647 is the largest integer value you can use. Meaning if you try to put 999999999999 into an integer field, it will fail to do so and revert to the highest available number, which is 2147483647.

To solve this, just use a smaller number. There is no reason whatsoever for you to use a number that high in ANY of the fields, and doing so will just cause problems.

This error is exactly what it sounds like: you did not select the database prior to executing the query.

When you connect to your databases using your MySQL connecting program of choice (e.g.: Navicat, HeidiSQL, etc), the first thing you will typically see is a short list of your databases (for most servers this will be less than 10, sometimes as few as 2 or 3). One of those databases will contain a very large number of tables, including the ones WoW-V queries use such as items, mobs, quests, loot, etc. tables. Sometimes this database is called the "world" database, but it is different for every core/repack, so it is up to you to figure out which one it is.

The rule of thumb: if you don't see something like "items" or "items_template" in there, you're not in the right database.

Once you figure that out, you just have to be sure that you are in the database itself (so that you get a view of all the table names), THEN execute the query. Consult your program's manual if you're not sure how to do this as it differs from program to program.

Any "unknown table" error that relates to "information_schema" means that you've selected the wrong database.

As noted HERE, information_schema is an *information database*, not a user database. It is maintained by the MySQL backend and is not a database you should ever, ever touch.

This is an error of, essentially, "corrupt" auto-increment data, usually caused by manually manipulating the data in an auto-increment field.

Auto-increment fields are used to keep the value of new entries unique. You never want to manually assign that value, as MySQL keeps a backend database of data about which number it should increment to next, and if that number is used (or if you've cause the value to be extremely high, exceeding the INT limitations), then you'll get the error "Duplicate entry '4294967295' for key 2".

WoW-V doesn't assign values for any auto-increment fields in its batches, forcing auto-increment to work by default. If you get this error, it is not because of our supplied queries and is instead because either you or someone on your server's staff was manually adding entries and manipulated the `index` field, instead of leaving it blank so that auto-increment can do its job, or you have run out of room because you've auto-incremented to a value that exceeds what the column datatype can support.


Also, double check that your database isn't using TINYINT instead of INT or BIGINT for `index` (or whatever your auto-increment field's name is that is causing the problem). If it is, then the reason the error is caused is because you've exceeded the max value to auto-increment to (either because you skipped a ton due to manually entering a really high number, or because you really do have the max amount of values), due to the severe limitations of TINYINT.

You most likely did not set the "Item Level" high enough.

The range of Item Level needed for enchantments to work is 60 (minumum) to 255 (maximum). 255 will give the item the ability to receive the highest level of enchantments, so use this if you don't want to worry about which enchantments people can use.

This is unfortunately not a problem WoW-V can solve. Some cores just do this for some reason, and it isn't exclusive to custom items.

Most cores use the following syntax for spawning items "[command] [itemid] [amounttospawn]". Try setting the "[amounttospawn]" to 1 or 0. If that does not work, make the item "Unique" or add it to a vendor's inventory and obtain it that way.

Huge numbers in damage/stat fields causes calculations in the game to go a bit crazy, which can cause the server to lag, crash, or return nonsensical results (such as saying "0 damage" for a weapon that should be doing several billion/trillion a hit).

The limits we have in place are general, and may still be too high (or even too low for some of the more advanced cores). We don't allow them to be shared since we want to have mostly guaranteed to be working items "Shared". However, you can still create and download these items (using the green "Download" option instead of the yellow "Share" option), just do so at your own risk.

Because money isn't involved in calculations the same way that stats and damage amounts are, and therefore huge amounts don't cause the server to crash.

Worst case scenario the player that sells/buys the item gets too much gold and hits the INT or game gold limit, or they can never afford it because the buy price is beyond what the game gold limit allows.

Because it's not possible in the scope of what WoW-V provides. It MAY be possible with extensive core, DBC, and database editing, but WoW-V is purely a database-related resource.

As of 3.1 feral attack power is automatically determined and applied in the game core. We display it in the item preview because it is helpful for determining druid gear. It isn't so much an "extra" stat as just a replacement stat for when a player is in cat form.

No, there is no editing feature (nor will there be).

The reason for this is because it is not possible due to how our backend conversions work. To better illustrate this, here is a simplified example scenario:


Say you are making an item and you select two values that interact with one another on the backend to make a single, new value.

For simplicity's sake, lets say our two selected values are:

A = 1
B = 3

When combined, that would make:

C = 4 (C is A+B)

Easy enough, right?

Now try to undo that to make A and B equal exactly what was chosen, knowing that all you have to work with is "C = 4". It cannot be done with 100% confidence. Why? Because all the following combos COULD work:

A = 1, B = 3
A = 2, B = 2
A = 4, B = 0
A = 1000, B = -996
(etc, etc, etc)

See? You cannot "know" what the values of A and B were if all you have is C. It is a flaw in how we designed our system from the beginning, and unfortunately it means that we cannot change it without erasing all of our current items (which is not an option).

Now, we COULD implement very simple editing for the name, item description, etc. But to only allow some and not others may get too confusing to the end user and, ultimately, is not useful enough to bother with. Simple editing may be permitted in the future, but it is still being decided upon.

We use Wowhead's 3d viewer to display items, author page setups, and wardrobe setups in 3d. Since it doesn't anticipate showing "impossible" setups that WoW-V has, they won't always work.

For example: If you have 2x two-handed swords equipped on your wardrobe setup the Wowhead 3d viewer will only show one of them (or possibly none) because the items "overlap" the equip slot.

There is also the possibility that Wowhead 3d viewer just doesn't have support for that particular displayID yet.

Regardless, we can't fix anything on their end, so please don't ask us to.

With the 3.3.x update, Blizzard made changes to the DBCs (and the client in general) that forced class skills (that require an item type) to have hardcoded valid item EntryID values (or so it is thought), much like the "?" icons for custom items.

In a nutshell this means that custom items will not work with class skills of that nature and that it is not something WoW-V can fix.


A temporary solution has been found by using existing entryIDs (meaning you have to remove the corresponding retail item from your database and replace it with your custom item, using the same entryID). For a list of available IDs, and the weapon type they correspond to, check out this pastebin:

NOTE: This may cause the item's icon to show incorrectly in the inventory/bag screen, but the item should still look like the displayID you chose when you equip it. This is because of how Blizzard deals with displayIDs and retail entryIDs, and is not something we can fix.

Three potential issues cause this to happen:

1. You didn't give your NPC/mob a minhealth/maxhealth value. You MUST supply them with both values.

2. Your maxhealth value is LOWER than your minhealth. Minhealth means "minimum health", meaning it is supposed to be the lower of the minhealth/maxhealth values. They can be the same if you don't want a variance, but maxhealth MUST be higher than minhealth if not.

3. You are using values far too high for MySQL to use. See this for a longer explanation. Using a super high number does not always revert to a usable value, so sometimes the game just interprets it as "0". Lower your values and you should be fine.

You aren't using a compatible DisplayID (such as using a helmet model for a sword item) or you're using an invalid DisplayID.

Remember: DisplayID is not the EntryID/SpawnID. DisplayID corresponds to what model to use, EntryID is the unique ID used to spawn/reference the item.

There are quite a few methods to do this, but some of the most common:

1. Use our "DisplayID Finder Tool". Each creator that has an applicable "DisplayID Finder Tool" (or "ZoneID Finder Tool" for Quests) has a light blue image near the DisplayID field that can be clicked to access the tool via pop-up.
   
   You can then search our database using existing retail EntryIDs or item/mob/zone names. If our DisplayID database does not find something to match your search, it will then attempt to pull the data from Wowhead.com. If this fails, no results will be returned.
   
   However, the DisplayID database and the Wowhead.com pulls are not infallible. There may be times when you have to try different methods, as stated below.



2. Find the item/mob you want the DisplayID from on Wowhead.com.
   
   Add "&xml" (without the quotes) to the end of the url of the item/mob's page and press enter. (example: Going to http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019, then adding "&xml" to the URL to make it become http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019&xml)
   
   In the new page, locate "icon displayId=".
   
   The number in the quotes is your DisplayID. In our example above, which is for "Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker", it will be 30606.
   
   As you can see, it is NOT the number at the end of the initial URL! That number is the EntryID and is a common mistake among new WoW-V users.

As stated before, there are other methods (such as using a different, non-Wowhead.com site or searching through a repack database) to get DisplayIDs, so use whatever you are most comfortable with!

During 2009 Blizzard made a change to how icons are applied to items. The common theory is that this was an effort to curb the abilities of private servers. However, the items still work... they just look weird in your inventory.

Unfortunately, WoW-V cannot fix this issue for you since it's a problem with the game client itself. There is a UI mod designed by our admin Halestorm that MAY fix your problems located here: ArcCorrect Addon. It was made for ArcEmu, but may work for other cores as well.

The only scenario where this is possible is if you are using IDs from PTR patches or VERY recent patches that WoW-V has not updated to yet.

Our DisplayID->Icon database is 100% Blizzlike as it is extracted directly from the WoW game files. It is NOT POSSIBLE for us to be missing IDs unless the above mentioned scenarios occur, so double and triple check that you are using a DisplayID and NOT an EntryID.

Note that this does not apply to our DisplayID Finder Tools. They use a "blizzlike" database and some XML extraction techniques to get the retail EntryID/Name->DisplayID info, meaning it is not 100% accurate or complete. That data is not in the DBC files, so it is not possible for us to have a complete database.

This is most likely because you replaced an existing item and did not clear your cache or restart the server (both are REQUIRED for custom content to work properly).

Note that if you replace retail entryIDs with custom items, those items may be forced to use the retail item's icon, instead of the one you chose. The item should still look the way you intended when you equip it, it's just in the bag/inventory view that it will look incorrect.

This is because of Blizzard's changes to how the game client interacts with the server, and is not something WoW-V can fix.

Dynamic images, which most of our "special features" utilize, are images generated on the fly with ever-changing information.

Examples of these types of images would be:

- Signature images that state what the viewer's IP, operating system, etc. are.
- XFire/other gaming-related images that will state what the user's most played games, game stats, etc. are.

The purpose of many of these types of images is to allow offsite linking of information contained within another site's databases. Our usage of this is exactly that: to allow you to link items, author stats, etc. on sites OTHER than WoW-V without having to constantly update the code.

Yes! Browsers will make the dynamic image react the same was as a normal image. Meaning you can resize it, link it, and use all sorts of fancy CSS and javascript techniques on it (such as opacity, etc).

The Wardobe is a feature that lets you equip a character with WoW-V items, generate a link that you can send to others, and view them all equipped in 3d.

The data is not saved on WoW-V**, but instead is supplied in the URL the tool generates (similar to how linking a WoW build from popular build calculators works). It is therefore extremely important that the URLs are NOT altered! Otherwise your wardrobe setup may not display how you want.


**: Rank 4+ and Donators/Sponsors DO have the ability to save wardrobes to WoW-V's databases due to an update released in December of 2009.

Saving a wardrobe setup allows the wardrobe to be commented on, and the wardrobe is automatically linked on all the item pages of the items equipped on the wardrobe.

"Item Points" is simply a sum of all current (non-deleted) items. It is a superficial indication of the author's item creating skill/popularity. "Total Points" (aka "account points") is the author's actual point count, which determines rank. Positive point totals on an item that is deleted are REMOVED from the author's total account points (aka: the point total that determines author rank). What this means is that if an item has a total of 100 points and the item is removed, that amount of points is removed from the author's point total so that it evens the point gain out to zero.

This is being done to combat the people trying to "game" WoW-V's system by making an item, having it plusvoted, then removing it, remaking, and having it plusvoted again. It is also done to make it so that when an item is remade to "fix" something on it, the point gain from the deleted item is fairly leveled back to zero.

Deleting items with a negative point count will still NOT "reimburse" the points, however! Our intention is not to make it so that people can alter their account points by removing their crappy items, but instead to patch the exploitation of making multiple remakes for extra plusvotes or deciding to arbitrarily remove items in an effort to remain at a certain rank.

To illustrate this better, here are a few scenarios (for the sake of simplicity, assume all +/- votes are all just 1 point weight):

A: Item has +60/-40 (20 total points). Upon removal, 20 points are removed from the author's account (making their total gain/loss of account points from this item equal 0).

B: Item has +100/-0 (100 total points). Upon removal, 100 points are removed from the author's account (making their total gain/loss of account points from this item equal 0).

C: Item has +50/-50 (0 total points). Upon removal, 0 points are removed from the author's account (making their total gain/loss of account points from this item equal 0 since the votes/points themselves already canceled it out).

D: Item has +40/-60 (-20 total points). Upon removal, 0 points are removed from the author's account (making their total gain/loss of account points from this item equal -20). While this scenario may sound unfair, the alternative (to "reimburse" the downvotes) would do exactly what we don't want: it would allow people to "game" WoW-V by simply removing any items they have with negative points to keep themselves in a higher rank.

E: Item has +0/-0 (0 total points). Upon removal, 0 points are removed from the author's account (making their total gain/loss of account points from this item equal 0 since no gain/loss has even occurred).


It is also worth mentioning that reported (and subsequently removed) items can still be set by the reviewing staff member to "punish" the author via ADDITIONAL point removal (and/or suspension)! Items that are appealed and un-denied will have any points that were removed due to the initial deletion reimbursed... however, items that are appealed and RE-denied will receive DOUBLE the loss of points automatically (on top of additional point removal staff can implement), meaning if you appeal your items you had better be right about them following the rules.

Each night all items are ordered based on their points and ranked accordingly. The number+arrow indicates the "movement" of the item from the previous day (it is meant to imitate stock tickers and whatnot). So if an item was #1 one day, then #5 the next day, the stats would have a red 4 with a down arrow to indicate the item moved down 4 spots.

Note that moving down spots doesn't mean you have a bad item, it just indicates that there has been a change in the overall rankings (therefore implying that somebody *else* is getting more plus votes than you, not that you're getting lots of downvotes).

Because the shared item database is meant to be a resource for server administrators to populate their servers with interesting items, and cluttering it with garbage or author/server-specific items that nobody would ever download and use is a waste of resources.

Before you complain, realize that WoW-V is not intended to be a dumping ground for all your "uber" items. We have a "Download" option for that sort of rubbish. The "Share" feature is for quality and creative items only!

Should the staff member agree that the item does indeed break one of our RULES, they will remove the item (leaving a "Deleted Reason" that can be viewed on the MANAGE page or on the item's page). In the deletion process the staff member will decide if the author that made the rule breaking item will have points deducted or not, but they do not decide if the author that reported the item is given a reward. The reward is given automatically regardless of whether punishment is dealt to the offending author.

I have spent 4+ years developing WoW-V and have spent a ridiculous amount of energy and money to get it where it is today. The very least I would expect is that people would be self-sufficient enough to research generic MySQL problems. Get off your couch and figure it out for yourself every once in awhile.

Those sorts of things are typically copy+pasted legal bullshit that nobody reads or understands. We're a free service and a non-commercial entity, so we're not going to bother with that. The short-and-sweet of it is:

Privacy Policy:
- We don't sell/give/share your information with 3rd parties
- We don't utilize any sort of adware/spyware/malware
- We don't spam you (or give your info to spammers)

Terms of Service:
- No rights, services, or availability is guaranteed
- Membership, items, etc. can be terminated with or without reason at any time
- Donors/sponsors have been given special rights as a "thank you" for their contributions, they have NOT been bound (or bound WoW-V) to any legal agreement that guarantees services, access, etc.

We use ads because the reality is that servers are expensive and without a sugar daddy/mama (or parent company) we have to pay for it out of pocket, which is not feasible on SickBoy's day job salary. Ads lessen that burden by providing a little bit of income to help cover the server costs each month.

We are regular web users, gamers, etc. just like the rest of you, so we've tried to be as non-intrusive as possible since we know from personal experience how annoying they can be. For instance, you will NEVER get:

- "talking" ads
- pop-up ads
- interim page ads
- "overlapping" ads
- intrusive/annoying Flash ads
- random word linking ads

We utilize Google Adsense ads because they are basic and don't make your eyes/ears bleed. The ads we get from sponsors have to adhere to specific requirements to keep them within those same guidelines as well.

Unfortunately, ad revenue is not always enough to cover our costs. We ask for donations to attempt to cover the costs 100%.

Think of it this way: if costs are totally covered, there is no reason to ever shut the site down. However, if costs are constantly being taken out of SickBoy's pocket, financial stability issues could lead to the termination of WoW-V.

Sarcasm aside, ads do not provide much unless you're doing the dickhead method: sell out and oversaturate every aspect of the site with intrusive ads that trick people into clicking. Google Adsense only pays per click, and as you yourself can probably attest to, most people do not click ads.

The other option sites have is to make advertising deals with proper sponsors... but our demographic and niche subject matter does not allow for that, nor are we willing to be a corporation's bitch by adhereing to their rules and restrictions for sponsorship.

But we're fine with that. If we wanted to commercialize WoW-V, we would have. As long as server costs are covered, we're happy as clams in some sort of clam strip club.

We use Google Adsense content-based ads for most of our advertising, but we have a few spots where sponsors can sign up with us directly to have banners placed.
